7 Oggan party men jailed for 5 yrs

A tribunal in Sylhet has convicted 7 Oggan (dope) party men and sentenced them to five years’ rigorous imprisonment for snatching a microbus leaving its driver unconscious in 2011. The convicts are Manir alias Sumon alias Swapan, 28, of Patuakhali Sadar Upaizla; Mohammad Alauddin Alal, 35, of Homna Upazila in Comilla district; Abul Hossain alias Ali Hossain, 26, of Biswanath Upazila of Sylhet; Parimal Chandra Hawladar alias Sagar, 29, of Taltali Upazila and Mohammad Anis, 25, of Barguna Sadar Upazila; Mohammad Islam, 26, of Araihazar Upazila of Narayanganj; and Jasim Uddin, 23, of Haimchar Upazila of Chandpur. Metropolitan Magistrate of Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal Mohammad Sayedul Karim also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer 6 months more of RI. According to the prosecution, the convicts hired a microbus from Dariapara microbus stand in Sylhet city for going to Jaflong on November 9, 2011. They took away the microbus after making its driver Mostafa unconscious using sedatives. The miscreants dumped Mostafa from the vehicle near Sayestaganj rail crossing when he was in a senseless condition, according to a news agency.
