7 plastic factories gutted in city fire

At least seven factories were gutted in a fire in Islambagh Namapara in the city's Lalbagh area on Sunday. Sources at the Fire Service and Civil Defence said the devastating fire which broke out at a plastic factory in Islambagh Namapara rapidly spread to other establishments and structures in its vicinity. Fire Service officials and police, quoting local people, said the fire erupted around 3:40am in the plastic factory and quickly spread to the adjoining factories. On information, seven fire fighting units from the fire brigade headquarters in Phulbaria, Lalbagh and Plassey rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 10:00am. The fire completely gutted seven factories. However, no injuries were reported in the fire, according to a news agency.
