7 shops gutted in Pirojpur

At least seven shops were gutted by a fire that broke out at Ikri Bazar in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur district on early Friday. Fire service sources said the fire originated from the oven of a sweetmeat shop around 1:00am and soon engulfed adjoining six more shops. On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after two hours of frantic efforts around 3am. The affected shop owners estimated the loss caused by the fire at about Tk3.0 million, according to a news agency.
