7 UPDF men pay Tk 25,000 each to get freedom

RANGAMATI, Dec 31: The abducted seven activists of anti-peace treaty organisation United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), were freed Wednesday night from Ghagra area after paying Tk 25,000 each after six days of their abduction.
The kidnappers’ demand was Tk 50,000 for each of them as ransom.
However, the abductors negotiated with the families of kidnapped men for paying Tk 25,000 per person, said the victim family members, preferring anonymity.
The men who got released are Pratul Chakma, Santosh Chakma, Jiten Chakma, Keru Chakma, Bikash Chakma, Mishan Chakma and Bindu Dhan Chakma.
