7 warehouses, 2 shops gutted

A devastating fire which broke out early Wednesday at Mrigi Bazar at Kalukhali upazila in Rajbari burnt to ashes seven warehouses and two shops. Fazlul Haque Mandal, station officer of Pangsha Fire Service, said the fire originated at about 12:30am from an electric short circuit in a jute warehouse and soon spread burning down six more jute warehouses and two adjoining shops. On information, two fire fighting units from Pangsha and Khoksa fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after four hours of frantic efforts at 4:30am. Affected owners of the warehouses and the shops claimed that valuables worth Tk 10.10 million were gutted by the blaze, according to UNB.
