Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) recovered Indian rupee amounting to 7.0 million (70 lakh) from a luggage at the 'Lost and Found' section of the Customs Hall Friday, reports UNB.
Contacted, Joint Commissioner (Customs) Ziauddin said a flight of Turkish Airlines landed at the airport around 6:15 am. Later, an unclaimed baggage of the flight was kept at the 'Lost and Found' section.
Customs officials usually monitor whether any abandoned luggage contains contraband or taxable items. They scanned the luggage on suspicion and detected the presence of foreign currency, the Joint Commissioner (Customs) said.
