720 kg jatka seized in Munshiganj

Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel and fisheries department officials in a drive seized 720 kilograms (kg) of jatka in Dhaleshwari River at Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning. Rasheduzzaman, senior fishery officer of Munshiganj Sadar upazila, said a joint team of Coast Guard and the district fisheries department conducted a search in two Dhaka-bound launches named MV Sadil and MV Farhan-1 in the morning and seized 720 kg of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 centimetres in length) kept in three baskets and two sacks. The owners of the hilsa fry, however, managed to escape sensing the presence of the team, added Rasheduzzaman, according to UNB.
