7.3 kg gold seized at Shahjalal

Customs Intelligence officials seized gold bars weighing 7.3 kilogram worth Tk 36.5 million (Tk 3.65 core) at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Kurmitola in the city on Friday. The Customs officials also arrested a man in this connection. The arrestee was identified as Al Amin, son of Based Miah of Narayanganj district. Tipped off, a team of Customs Intelligence officials challenged Al Amin at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) airport when he arrived in Dhaka from Malaysia around 6:00am and recovered the gold bars searching his luggage. The current market value of the seized gold is Tk 36.5m, the intelligence officials said, according to UNB.
