75 Bangladeshis return after serving jail in India

BENAPOLE, July 3 (UNB): At least 75 Bangladeshi nationals, including two children, returned home through Benapole check post on Thursday after serving three months' jail term in Indian prison.
Indian police handed them over to the Benapole immigration police authorities in the evening.
Officer-in-charge of Benapole check -post immigration police Aslam Hossain said a group of human traffickers had sent them to India alluring them with lucrative jobs two and a half years back through Jessore border.
Later, Indian police arrested them from Mumbai.
Of the arrestees, 73 were women.
All of them hail from different parts of Narail, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts.
A case had been filed against them and an Indian court awarded them three months' imprisonment and sent them to Mumbai central jail for crossing the border without valid documents.
The Indian government returned them following repeated requests of the Home Ministry of Bangladesh through sending letters several times.
Benapole port thana police handed them over to their respective families through a human rights organisation and Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association.
