75 poor get sanitary materials from LGSP in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, July 16 (BSS): Some 75 poor people of Urya union of Fulchhari upazila get sanitary materials ring-slab worth Taka 60,000 from Local Government Support Project (LGSP)-2 on Tuesday.
The objective of the materials distribution was to inspire the poor of the union to use sanitary latrines to help the government achieve 100 percent sanitation coverage to ensure a better and disease free healthy society.
UNO Mostafizur Rahman formally distributed the materials of sanitary latrines to the selected poor of the union as the chief guest and sub assistant engineer of department of public health engineering Helalur Rahman was present as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the UNO said the government introduced the gigantic LGSP in all the 82 unions of the district to conduct various welfare and development activities for the people and to strengthen the local government in grass root level as well.
He also urged the beneficiary poor to install the sanitary latrines at their respective house to attain the cherished goal of the government.
Upazila level officials, public representatives, political leaders, local elite and invited guests including journalists were present on the occasion.
Talking to BSS deputy director of local government section of district collectorate building M. Moklesur Rahman said similar materials were also being distributed to the poor of other unions of the district under the project.
