7,550 hectares of land under vegetables cultivation

CHUADANGA, Aug 28 (BSS):  A total of 7,550 hectares of land has been brought under vegetables cultivation in all the four upazilas of the district during the current summer season.
According to Department of Agriculture and Extension (DAE) office sources, of the total land, 2,850 hectares in Sadar upazila, 1,200 hectares in Alamdanga, 1,500 hectares in Damurhuda and 2,000 hectares in Jibannagar upazila have been brought under vegetables cultivation.
The production of vegetables in the current season will continue till October 15, the sources further said.
During the season a total of 0.11 million (one lakh 13 thousand and 250) tonnes of vegetables are expected to be produced in the four upazilas of the district, DAE sources said.
The vegetables are brinjal, guard, pumpkins, borboti, jhinga, lalshak, puisak, papaya, potol and other vegetables.
