7.6 kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials and Armed Police Battalion (APBn), in two separate drives arrested two persons, with 7.6 kg of gold worth about Tk 38.2 million (3.82 crore) at the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport (HSIA) in the city Sunday. Assistant Commissioner of Airport Customs Intelligence Umme Nahida Akhter confirmed the news. The detainees are Shahinur Alam, 40, and Monjurul Haque Sumon, 26. Customs officials arrested Shahinur with 6 kg gold. In another drive, APBn arrested Sumon, a passenger of a flight (EK-0582) of United Emirates Airlines which landed at Shahjalal airport at 9am, with one kg and 632 grams of gold.    — BSS
