77-platoon BGB deployed

Paramilitary forces were deployed in key places of the country early Wednesday ahead of the pronouncement of appeal verdict of death row war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury. Ten platoons of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) personnel have been deployed in Dhaka city while 67 platoons in different places of the country, including Chittagong city, to avert any untoward situation centring the Supreme Court verdict, said Mohsin Reza, public relations officer of BGB. The government has ordered the law-enforcing agencies to beef up security in capital and other places and asked the BGB to be alert following the verdict, according to a news agency.
