78.33pc pass HSC, equivalent exams

The results of 2014 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are out with record 78.33 per cent students passing out. This year, 70,602 examinees got GPA-5. Among them, 38,787 are boys with 77.86pc pass rate and 31,815 girls with 78.86pc pass rate. Some 1,147 colleges came out successful with cent percent pass. The success rate in last year (2013)'s HSC and equivalent exams was 74.30pc. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with chairmen of all education boards handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina around 10:00am on Wednesday. A total of 1,147,374 students of 8,104 institutions took this year's HSC and equivalent exams between April 3 and June 16. The results of the 2014 exams will be officially announced at a press conference at the Secretariat in the afternoon. Students will be able to know their results after 1.30pm. Apart from the educational institutions, the results will be available on www.educationboardresults.gov.bd. Candidates can also get their result by sending SMS to 16222 with text ‘HSC’ followed by a space then first 3 letters of the respective education board another space then roll number followed by space again then ‘2014’. For example: hsc dha 123456 2014 and send to 16222, according to private TV channels.
