7kg gold seized at Shahjalal, 1 held

Customs Intelligence officials seized 64 pieces of gold bars weighing 7 kilograms (kg) at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport at Kurmitola in the city on Saturday. The Customs Intelligence men also arrested one – Abdul Latif – allegedly for carrying the gold. The detainee arrived in Dhaka’s Hazrat Shhjalal (RA) Airport from the UAE city of Dubai by a flight this (Saturday) morning. Custom Intelligence Department Assistant Director Shikdar Mazibur Rahman said that following suspicious movement of Abdul Latif, they led a search and seized the gold from the luggage he was carrying. Details about the incident will be disclosed later, he added. Latif hailed from Chittagong district, according to UNB.
