8 die in separate incidents during Eid holidays

At least eight people were killed in separate incidents in the city during the Eid holidays that began September 30.
Of them, a housewife was beaten to death Saturday allegedly by her in-laws at Malitola.
Police said they recovered the body of Rebeka Sultana, 17, wife of Monir Hossain, in the morning. Monir married Rebeka about 10 months ago, police said.
In another incident, Rubel Hawlader, 30, a driver of a private car, was shot dead by unknown criminals who also took away the private car from Gulshan-2 on October 1.
Rubel was found bullet wounded at Gulshan-2 at night and he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared him dead.
Gulshan police arrested day labourer Mohammad Sajib, 22, on charges of killing another labourer Mahfuj, 15 in the city's Uttara on October 3.
Police said both Mahfuj and Sajib scuffled with each other and at one stage Mahfuj succumbed to injuries when he fell down and his head struck a stone.
In Jatrabari, housewife Farida Begum, 35, was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband on October 1.
