8 gamblers jailed in Joypurhat

A mobile court in Joypurhat convicted eight gamblers and sentenced them to four days jail each on charge of gambling in Kalai upazila of the district on Sunday. Ramjan Ali, Officer in charge of Kalai Thana, said a team of police conducted a drive at Shamsira Bazaar and held them while they were engaging in gambling at a public place. Later, the mobile court led by Kalai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Saiful Islam, handed down the verdict. The convicts are Tota Miah, 46, Rashid, 42, Shahidul Islam, 25, Shaharul, 30, Mofidul, 33, Zobbar, 35, Abdul Hannan, 35 and Sanju Miah, 20, according to BSS.
