Friday, 8 August 2014

Customs Intelligence officials recovered eight gold bars and some gold ornaments weighing about 1.200 kg from a toilet at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday night. Sources at the airport said the incident took place just after a flight of Singapore Airlines landed at the airport at about 10:40pm. The gold consignment was apparently brought by the flight, the sources added. Based on secret information, the Customs Intelligence officials recovered the gold bars and gold-made ornaments weighing 1.200-kilograms and worth about Tk 7 million in an abandoned condition from a toilet near a boarding bridge, through which the passengers came out of the flight. The carrier of the gold consignment fled the scene sensing danger due to close monitoring by the Customs Intelligence officials, the sources said, according to UNB.
