8 inter-dist robbers held in Rajbari

Plainclothes police in a drive arrested eight alleged inter-district robbers at Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district on Monday. The arrestees, identified as Malat, 45, Monekka, 40, Ershad, 30, Shamim, 28, Naim, 25, Alamin, 24, Sumon, 23, and Sujan, 22, hail from Iman Kha Para and Hossain Mondal Para of the upazila. Officer-in-charge of Goalanda Police Station Abul Bashar said they had secret information that a robbers’ gang was preparing to commit robbery at a garden near KKS Child Government Primary School at Daulatdia around 1:00am. A team of police led by OC Abul Bashar conducted a drive there and arrested the eight robbers after a hot chase, said the OC. Police also recovered six home made weapons, including a Chinese axe and one machete, from the spot. A case was filed. The arrested are accused in several criminal cases including killing ad robbery, filed with different police stations, including Goalanda, according to UNB.
