8 killed, 4 hurt in accidents

Eight people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Naogaon, Gazipur and Pirojpur district on Saturday, reports UNB.
In Noagoan, three people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a CNG run auto-rickshaw and a truck on Raninagar-Abadpur road in Puthia area of Raninagar upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 45, a resident of Boalbaria village, Bidyut Pramanik, 30, of Debnagar village of Atrai upazila and Samrat Hossain, 38, a resident of Par-Noagoan area in sadar upazila.
Police said the accident took place when the auto-rickshaw collided with the truck in the area around 3pm, leaving Shahidul and Samrat dead on the spot.
The injured were admitted to Noagoan sadar hospital where Bidyut succumbed to his injuries. A case was filed in this connection.
In Dinajpur, two motorcyclists were killed and another injured as a truck rammed their vehicle in Kaugoan intersection area of sadar upazila on Saturday noon.
The deceased was identified as Sajjad Hossain, 28, son of Ansar Ali and Majedur Rahman, 45, son of Obaidur Rahman, resident of Kaliganj village of the Chirirbandar upazila. The injured was identified as Monsed Ali.
Police said accident took place when the vegetable-laden truck hit the motorcycle around 1pm, leaving Sajjad dead on the spot and Majedur and Monsed critically injured.
In Gazipur, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Sreepur upazila of the district on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Helalul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mawna Police Station, said Shammi Akter Chumki, 22, a garment worker, was killed when a Mymensingh-bound bus ran over her in C&B area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the upazila around 7:30 am.
In another incident, Aminul Islam, 45, of Teper Bari in Sreepur Upazila was killed when a bus knocked him down on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in AMC Bazar area of the upazila around 11:30 pm.
In Pirojpur, Babul Talukder an elderly man was killed as a human hauler hit him in Togra ferry-ghat area of Bhandaria upazila on Saturday morning.
