8 killed as bus hits autorickshaw

RAJSHAHI, Mar 30: Three passengers of an autorickhshaw were killed and two others injured seriously when a Dhaka-bound inter-district bus collided head-on with it on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at Duttapara area under Natore Sadar Monday night. Agitated people attacked the bus and ransacked it. They also put barricade on the road for about an hour in protest against the fatal accident. According to sources, at around 8-30 pm, the Dhaka-bound night coach of Shyamoli Paribahan coillided head on with an autorickshaw killing three passengers of the auto-rickshaw on the spot and injuring two others critically. The dead passengers of the auto-rickshaw have been identified as Afsar, Monowara and Naoshad Ali of Karota village while Kalu Mia and auto-rickhshaw driver Samad Ali of Gunarigram were injured critically and admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. State Minister for Sports Ahad Ali Sarker visited the spot after the accident. Gazipur UNB adds : Three people were killed and 10 others injured when a truck hit a human hauler at Nogpara on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sadar Upazila Wednesday morning. Two of the deceased were identified as Harun-ur-Rashid (50) of Gazirchar village in Barisal, Abul Kalam (32) of Daudkandi in Comilla. The identity of another deceased could not be known immediately. Police and local people said the accident occurred at about 9:45am when the Salna-bound human hauler collided with the truck coming from opposite direction, leaving 13 passengers of the human hauler critically injured. The injured were rushed to Sadar hospital where three of them died after admission. Faridpur UNB adds : Two people were killed and another was injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Masunandapur in Modhukhali Upazila on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Abu Molla (55) and Al Amin (30), passengers of nasimon. Police said the accident occurred at about 12:30pm when a bus of Shohagh Paribahan hit a human hauler, leaving two dead on the spot and injuring another passenger of the human hauler. All the victims were passengers of human hauler nasimon. The injured was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
