Eight persons were killed in road accidents across the country in last two days, according the available reports by agencies. Of them four killed in Dhaka's airport road in two days.
Two women pedestrians have been run over and killed in an accident on Dhaka's Airport Road on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 11 am in front of the Xinxian Restaurant near Jashimuddin Road, police said.
Minara Khatun, 55, and Moni Begum, 35, were killed while trying to cross the road, said Azizul Haque Miah, chief of Airport Police Station.
"They were hit by a Binimoy Paribahan bus headed to Tangail and killed on the spot," he said.
The bus has been seized and the driver, 34-year-old Shahin, has been arrested, he added.
One of the victims was a garment worker while the other worked at a private company, according to preliminary information.
On Friday two persons were killed and a child wounded as a car hit their motorcycle in the city's Kurmitola area today.
The deceased were Jannatul Ferdous Jannat, 20, a college student and her cousin Shamim Mridha, 35, an employee of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC).
Their niece Sadia, 8, has been undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Cantonment thana sub-inspector Rashedul Islam said the accident occurred
in the street in front of Golf Club adjacent to Kurmitola General Hospital around 2am on Friday.
Critically injured Jannat and Mridha were rushed to Kurmitola Hospital and later shifted to emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said, adding that Jannat succumbed to her injuries at 4am and Shamim at 11am at the hospital.
He said police arrested the private car's driver Sayeed Nabi and seized the car just after the accident.
In Dinajpur, two people including a woman were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Phulbaria and Nawabganj upazilas of Dinajpur on Saturday.
The deceased are Rahima Begum, 36, and Sujan Mahanto, 30.
Ashraful Islam, officer-in-charge of Phulbaria police station, said a head-on collision between two mini trucks near the headquarters of Border Guard Bangladesh-29 on Dinajpur-Gobiganj regional road left Rahima dead on the spot and two others injured.
In the same area, five other vehicles including a bus and a truck overturned losing control on the regional road, the OC said.
Three people sustained injuries in the accidents, he said, adding that all the five injured of the two incidents were receiving treatment at Phulbaria Upazila Health Complex.
Besides, farmer Sujan Mahanto was killed as the power tiller driven by him overturned while returning home from a around 7:30am.
Sujan was son of Madhab Mahanto of Daspara under Binodnagar union of Nawabganj upazila.
In Gaibandha, two people were killed in a head-on collision between a private car and a passenger bus in Pantapara area of Bogura- Rangpur- Highway under Gobindaganj upazila of the district this morning.
Eyewitnesses said the accident took place when a Rangpur-bound private car bearing number Dhaka Metro Kha12-3086 collided head on with a passenger bus named Palashbari Express bearing number Dhaka Metro Ba 15-5274 in the area at around 6.10 am. Two men inside the private car including its driver were killed on the spot.
Being informed, fire fighters of Gobindaganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Station rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the car. The bodies were later handed over to Gobindaganj highway thana police.
The deceased were identified as driver Mizan, 35, son of Haque Miah, at Dania 5 Smriti dhara of Shyampur Dhaka and Abul Bashar, 60, of Khilkhet area in the capital.
