8 killed in road accidents in dists

GOPALGANJ, April 11: Three persons were killed, 75 others injured and 15 of them seriously in two separate bus accidents on Gopalganj-Kotalipara Road at Majhbari and Shikirbazar under Kotalipara Upazila in Gopalganj district in last 24 Hours. According to Kotalipara Thana Police, two local passenger buses of Lamia Paribahan and Binimoy Paribahan were coming to Gopalganj from Paisarhat. On reaching Majhbari and Shikirbazar the drivers lost control of the buses and fell down into a road side ditch. As a result 3 persons were killed, 75 others injured. The dead are Hakim Sheikh, bus helper (15), Lais Sheikh (11) and Siddqur Rahman Sheikh (55). Nargis (35), Jamal Sheikh (35), Papan Datta (30), Mostafa (40), Kanak Bala (45), Joshna Roy (35), Momota(30), Rehena (8), Ali Azam (72), Ramesh (35), Rathin Mazumder (22), Aliuzzaman (45), Kamal (38), Rupchand (35), Kalipada (60) were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. 60 other injured persons were admitted to Kotalipara upazila health complex and local clinics. Two separate unnatural death (UD) cases were filed with Kotalipara P.S. in this connection. After the accident Deputy Commissioner (D.C.) and Additional S.P. Gopalganj visited the spot. Khulna Our correspondent from Khulna adds: A businessman was killed in a road accident at Kathaltala Bazar under Dumuria Upazila on Khulna-Satkhira highway Monday. Police and local source said that Fatik Adhikhari (55), a small betel leaf trader of village Baratia under Dumuria Upazila was crossing the road near Kathaltala while Khulna-bound speedy truck dashed him. Chittagong BSS adds: Two persons were killed and four others injured this morning while a speedy passenger bus knocked two CNG-run three-wheelers at Banigram of Sadanpur union, under Banshkhali Upazila in the district. The victims were identified as Mohammad Akkash Uddin (45), hailed from Rajakhali area of Pakua Upazila, in Cox's Bazar district and his six- year-old daughter Laki Akter. Officer-in-Charge of Banskhali Police Station, Ataur Rahman said the accident happened when a speedy passenger bus knocked two Chittagong-bound CNG-run three-wheelers, leaving the two dead on the spot. Locals brought the four injured CNG run three wheeler passengers at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) but their condition is out of danger. Rajshahi BSS adds: Two people including a baby were killed and at 25 others injured in two separate road accidents in the district Sunday, police said. According to the sources, Asha (8) died on the spot and 20 others, including the bride, were wounded when a Chapainawabganj- bound human hauler carrying a bridal party from Tanore in Rajshahi overturned and fell into a roadside ditch at Sadhur More near Amnura in Chapainawabganj at around 11.30 am. The injured were admitted to Godagari Upazila Health Complex. Abul Kashem (65), was also killed on the spot and five others were injured as a human hauler fell into a roadside ditch when its driver lost control over the steering at Ashrafpur on Bagha-Lalpur road under Bagha Upazila at about 11 am. Separate cases were filed with the concerned police stations.
