8 killed in road mishaps

Eight people including a woman and a girl were killed in separate road accidents in different parts of the country on Thursday and Friday, reports UNB.
In Brahmanbaria, four people were killed and at least 30 others injured in a road accident at Shahpur in Kosba upazila Friday.
Three of the deceased were identified as Akram (15), Shaheen (12), Arif (16).
Local sources said an Ashuganj bound bus from Kosba fell into a roadside ditch after one of its front wheels detached at about 5pm.
Four passengers died on the spot and at least 30 others were injured in the accident.
The bus driver managed to flee by jumping out of his vehicle.
Of the injured, eight were admitted to upazila health complex in critical condition.
Local people, firefighters and police rescued the injured passengers.
In another incident, a woman was crushed under the wheels of a truck at Atharakhada in Sadar Upazila on Magura-Sripur road Friday morning.
The deceased was -- Jharna Begum (50) -- hailed from Parnanduali in sadar uapzila.
Witnesses said Jharna fell down from an autorickshaw being hit by another autorickshaw when a speeding truck ran over her at about 11 am.
She was going to Sripur from Magura sadar. Police recovered the body and sent to hospital morgue.
UNB adds; a minor girl was killed in a road accident at Char Lawrence bazaar on Laxmipur-Ramgoti road Thursday.
Enamul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Komolnagar thana, said Shabnur, 10, daughter of Abdul Goni, of Char Pagla village in Komolnagar upazila, died instantly as a district town bound pickup van hit her at noon. Police seized the van but its driver managed to flee. A case was filed.
Our correspondent from Sirajganj adds; two man were killed in two separate road accident in Sirajganj district Thursday.
Police sources said that they recovered a body of an unidentified man, aged about 35, from a sack at Dariapur area in Shahzadpur upazila headquarter.
On the other hand, Police recovered another body of a youth identified as Mohammad Ali (28), son of Sona Ullah of Bhikompur village in Tarash upazila of the district. He committed suicide after taking poison at his own house Thursday night centering a family feud.
