Wednesday, 30 April 2014

Law enforcers have arrested eight more persons for suspected involvement in the snatching of JMB militants from a prison van in Mymensingh two months ago. Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel arrested them from different parts of the country on Wednesday, said RAB media wing’s assistant director Sadira Khatun. Sanwar Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said last month that 11 people had been arrested for their involvement in snatching of three convicted JMB men, including two condemned convicts, from the Mymensingh-bound prison van from Gazipur district, killing a police officer and injuring three other cops on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Trishal on February 23. With Wednesday’s arrests, the total detainees in the incident would now stands at 19, he added, according to a new agency.
