After serving for different jail-terms, eight Bangladeshi women and children have returned from India. Petrapole Immigration Police of India handed over the victims to Benapole Check Post Immigration Police in Jessore on Friday afternoon. The Indian immigration police handed them over to the Bangladesh police around 4:00pm. The returnees were sent to Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers' Association (BNWLA) around 4:30pm, said Benapole Immigration Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar. The Indian police arrested them from 1-and-half-year to 6-year ago for trespass. An Indian court convicted them and sentenced them to imprisonment for different terms. Later, Kisholoy, a non-government organisation (NGO), and Legal Aides and Training Centre kept the victims in their shelter home after getting the victims released from Indian jail. The two countries' foreign ministry officials talked about their return to Bangladesh. BNWLA Jessore district coordinator Nasina Akhter said the returned women and children will be handed over to their relatives within a week. They will also give assistance if any one wants to file case against the traffickers, she added, according to a news agency.
