80 posts of Jamalganj UZ admn lying vacant

SUNAMGANJ, Apr 21 (UNB) : Eighty posts, including eight official positions, at Jamalganj Upazila administration are lying vacant for a long time hampering normal administrative activities. Upazila administration sources said the posts of Assistant Commissioner (land) remained vacant for a long time which created a haphazard condition of work at land office. People who come to the office to get their work done are facing hassle as a huge number of works remained pending as post of AC-Land and other officials are lying vacant since long. Posts of a number of officials and many staff are lying vacant at the health department office. The health office immediately needs an Upazila Health Officer, Upazila Family Planning Officer, Public Health Engineer and other officials as these posts are lying vacant since long. Same is the case with Department of Statistics. A number of posts of statisticians are remained vacant. At the same time Zonal Training Officer and Project Officer have remained vacant for a long in the upazila administration office, creating serious crisis to get the official activities going. The offices are being run by in-charges while posts are remained vacant for a long time. The situation of social welfare department is not different as activities of the department are being run with serious constraint because of acute shortage of manpower. Meanwhile, 72 different posts at the upazila office are also lying vacant, seriously hampering normal activities. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Abul Hasem said administrative work is being seriously hindered due to shortage of staff and officials. "We are facing a lot of problem to run administration in this poor situation," he added. He said higher authorities were informed of the poor situation but step to solve crisis is not in sight.
