80 tolas of gold looted in Faridpur

Robbers looted 80 tolas of gold ornaments and other valuable items from a house in Boalmari upazila in Faridpur district on Wednesday. Boalmari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) M Ruhul Amin said a gang of 20/22 armed robbers stormed the house of Dr Ranjir Kumar Biswas at Natubadia village and looted the gold ornaments, Tk 100,000 in cash and 20 mobile phone sets by keeping hostage the family members at gunpoint. During leaving, the robbers also fired blank shots to create panic among neighbours. Dr Ranjit’s brother Ratan Kumar Biswas got married just a couple of days back and the lion’s share of the looted gold ornaments belonged to the bride. The OC said police were trying to arrest the bandits, according to UNB.
