800 tourist spots on BPC map

BPC gets Tk 702m to execute eight projects in FY '21

The Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) has identified 800 tourist spots in eight divisions of the country with support of other ministries and the deputy commissioners.
The corporation informed this on Sunday to the parliamentary standing committee on the civil aviation and tourism ministry.
The 15th meeting was chaired by chairman of the committee, Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury.
It was also informed in the meeting that Tk 702 million was allocated for the BPC in the ADP for fiscal year 2020-21 (FY '21) to implement eight projects.
A source at the civil aviation and tourism ministry said that BPC, archaeology department, water resources ministry, forest department and deputy commissioners have spotted 800 tourism spots across the country. The information ministry has published pictorial, bilingual handy books on the spots of six divisions at a cost of Tk 10 million. These divisions are - Sylhet, Khulna, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Barishal and Rangpur. The other two divisions are Mymensingh and Dhaka on which books are pending.
The books are distributed in the foreign mission in the country and Bangladeshi missions outside the country, different departments and agencies and universities.
The eight projects which got allocation are - Anwara Parky resort, Bagerhat motel, tourist facilities like toilet, food court, umbrella at Kazipur (Sirajganj), Shalna resort, study project of Khurushkul Sheikh Hasina Tower, facilities at Susang Durgapur of Netrakona, facilities in Cumilla for Kanon Dighi, facilities at Gazni (Sherpur) and capacity building and repair and renovation of Abakash and National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI).
