80,000 Hajj visas issued so far: Saudi envoy

The newly-appointed ambassador of Saudi Arabia has informed the foreign minister that they have so far issued visas for more than 80,000 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims. Abdullah HM Almutairi briefed the progress to the minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Wednesday when he called on him at his office in Dhaka, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Almutairi arrived in the capital on July 26 this year, and presented credentials on August 19 to President Abdul Hamid. Prior to his assignment in Bangladesh, he was director at Follow-up Section in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry. During the call on, the foreign ministry said, exchange of high-level visits between the countries and ways of strengthening the relations further had been discussed. The ambassador has assured the foreign minister of his commitment to work on expanding the relations. Minister Ali assured him all-out cooperation during his tenure here, according to a news agency.
