81 city shanties gutted by fire

At least 81 shanties were gutted by a devastating fire that broke out at a slum in the capital's Kallyanpur area Sunday night, firefighters said. The fire originated from an oven at Pora Basti (slum) at about 8:10pm and rapidly engulfed the densely-populated residential area of lower income group of people. On information, several units of the fire brigade rushed to the spot and completely doused the flame after hours' efforts with the help of local people and law enforcers. - FE Report
