82 gold bars seized at Shah Amanat: 1 held

Customs officials after a couple of days again detained one person with 82 gold bars weighing around 9 kilograms at Hazrat Shah Amanat (RA) International Airport in Chittagong on Thursday. The arrested is Mohammad Hussain of Anwara Upazila of the district. Customs assistant commissioner Sushanta Paul said on suspicion, they searched the body of Hussain who returned from Dubai and was going out after completing immigration formalities at the airport around 11:00am. The gold bars were found in a wrapped black cloth in his waist. The market value of the gold is estimated at around Tk 40 million, the official added. Customs officials on Tuesday night held one person with 45 gold bars weighing around 5kg at Shah Amanat (RA) International Airport, according to a news agency.
