82nd birthday of poet Shamsur Rahman today

The 82nd birthday of poet, columnist and journalist late Shamsur Rahman will be observed today (Sunday) recalling the contribution of the great poet to Bengali literature, reports BSS.
Different socio-cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe birthday of the poet who had received different prestigious awards, including "Bangla Academy Award" and "Ekushey Padak", for his contribution to Bengali literature.
Marking the occasion, "Jatiya Kabita Parishad" (national poetry council) will hold a discussion this afternoon on the TSC premises of Dhaka University where poems of the poet and the poems dedicating to the great poet would be recited.
Besides, "Boi Bondhu Sangstha" (book lovers organisation) will organise a daylong programme commemorating the poet at Public library auditorium on the day.
