83 passenger coaches being repaired at Syedpur railway workshop

NILPHAMARI, July 19: Record number of passenger coaches are being repaired in Syedpur railway workshop targeting Eid-Ul-Fitr. The workshop was undertaken a target to repair 83 railway passenger coaches before the the Eid-Ul-Fitr for the convenience of the passengers.
Out of 83 coaches 61 are of broad-gauge and 22 are of meter gauge coaches. In the meantime repairing of 56 coaches has been completed and handed over to Paksey and Lalmonirhat Railway divisions. The rest 27 coaches would be handed over by the 24th of this month.
Workshop sources said normal repairing cost of a coach is nearly one million taka and for heavy repairing cost is 100 million taka. Out of 83 repairable coaches 27 coaches were under heavy repairing and the rest are of normal repairing.
Sources said these repaired coaches would be able carry one million passengers during the festival.
