9 abductors held in Tangail, 3 rescued

Police arrested nine abductors and rescued three abductees in separate places of Tangail district on Wednesday and Thursday. Sub-inspector of Detective Branch of Police Chandan Kumer Chakravarty said Mobarak Hossain, hail from Dhanbari uapzila of Tangail and a garment worker, was abducted from near his working place at Konabari in Gazipur district on April 28. Later, the abductors demanded Tk 200,000 as ransom from his family over phone. When the abductors went to Tangail along with Mobarak for taking the ransom money from his wife DB police arrested five abductors from Babystand area at Sadar uapzila and rescued Mobarak Hossain on Wednesday night. The arrestees are Joynal Abedin, Latif Miah, Abdur Rahim, Dilip and Fazlul Haq. Meanwhile, two youths, who were abducted from Jamgrarah area under Ashulia of Savar on Wednesday evening, were rescued from Paikara village in Kalihati upazila of Tangail on Thursday night. The victims were identified as Ekramul Alam Dipu, 25, of Mirgaon village of Joydevpur thana in Gazipur and Arif, 25, son of Tota Miah of Paikara village of Kalihati. The abductors demanded Tk 200,000 ransom from the families of the youths. Police arrested four abductors – Ershad Alam, Asadul Haque, Ismail Ahmed and Azizur Mohammad – when they went to Paikara village to take the ransom money and rescued the two victims. A microbus used by the abductors was also seized, according to UNB.
