9 dead as bus skids off road in Tangail

At least nine people were killed and 18 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Patkhaguri in Bashail upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased could not be identified immediately, a news agency report confirmed.
Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Binimoy Paribahan’ fell into the roadside water-filled ditch after its driver lost his control over the steering around 3:30pm, leaving nine people dead on the spot and 18 others injured.
On information, police and fire fighters rushed to the spot and recovered nine bodies from the ditch. However, the bus could not be salvaged yet.
Officer-in-charge of Bashail Police Station Delwar Ahmed confirmed the incident adding that the death toll may rise.
