9 HuJI, Ansarullah men arrested in Dhaka

Detectives have detained nine suspected members of banned extremist groups – Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJI) and Ansarullah Bangla Team. They were arrested from various parts of Dhaka from Sunday night to early Monday. A ‘massive amounts’ of explosives were recovered from them. Identity of the arrested could not be known immediately. Detective Branch’s Additional Deputy Commissioner SM Jahangir Alam claimed that they recovered a large quantity of bombs, explosives and jihadi books from the possession of the arrestees. He said “They were planning a bank heist. We’ll reveal the details later.” When contracted, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muntasir said members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police nabbed the nine suspected militants foiling a bank robbery bid in the city, report agencies.
