9 sued for killing housewife in Laxmipur

A case has been filed against nine people in connection with the killing of a housewife after gang-rape in Chandraganj upazila of Laxmipur district. Tahura Begum, mother of the victim, filed the case on Thursday, three days after the incident. Quoting local people, police said 8/9 miscreants picked up the wife of Abdul Mannan and mother of five children, from her house at Gandhyabpur village in Chandraganj upazila forcefully on Tuesday night. Later they violated the housewife and dumped the body in a pond near the house after strangulating her to death. Local people pulled up the floating body of the victim from the pond on Wednesday afternoon. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. Autopsy report showed evidence of gang rape and a hit on the victim’s head caused her death. However, police arrested two people, including Halima Begum and Hasan, on suspicion of their involvement in the incident on Thursday, according to a news agency.
