90th day of \\\'blockade\\\' passes off

FE Report | Monday, 6 April 2015

Ninetieth day of the ongoing non-stop blockade, enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance, passed off on Sunday with no visible impact on daily life and economic activities in the capital and elsewhere of the country.
The alliance called the indefinite countrywide road-rail-waterways blockade from January 06, pressing for general elections under a non-party neutral administration. Earlier, it was barred from holding rally in the capital to protest the 10th parliamentary polls, held on January 05, 2014.
Vehicular movement in the city was normal, while heavy pressure of long-distance passenger buses and goods-laden vehicles on the country's major highways was observed throughout the day, according to traffic officials.
Trains arrived at and left Kamlapur railway station on time, and ferry services were also unaffected by the blockade.
Markets, educational institutions and offices were open as usual in the capital and elsewhere. No untoward incident, like - arson attack and vandalism, was reported from any part of the country.
