A dozen held near BNP HQs

Members of law enforcement agencies arrested at least a dozen people from in front of the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan in the city on Monday. The arrests were made during hartal hours from morning to afternoon. However, the identities of the detainees are not made public. Confirming arrest of the 12 people, a police official wshing anonymity said they were picked up from near the BNP central office on suspicion that they could conduct subversive activities in the area during the shutdown. The arrestees were taken to Paltan Police Station for interrogation, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of the thana said, according to a news agency.
