A friend in need is a friend in deed

Some snapshots along with video footage went viral in the social media recently which showed a female police sub-inspector (SI) Shabnam Akter Popy providing first-aid to a victim of road accident at the Banani end of Mohakhali flyover in Dhaka. News of the accident reached SI through walkie-talkie who rushed to the spot immediately. Thereafter, she gave the injured passengers first-aid treatment and hurriedly arranged to send them to nearby hospitals and clinics. It was a great job that brightened the image of the Police force.
Members of the law enforcing agencies are supposed to be friends of the people. SI Shabnam disclosed that they were trained in extra- professional jobs during their foundation training that included handling of unwanted situations. These trainings are essential. We expect that all members of the police will utilise their trainings for the benefit of the people. The praiseworthy piece of work done by SI Shabnam Akter Popy reminds us that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
