A huge wholesale market of bamboo has developed beside the Chittagong-Dhaka highway in the city's Signboard area. Traders bring the bamboos from different parts of the country and sell those to city dwellers. Mostly used for construction work, each bamboo costs Tk 200 to Tk 500.
