A sad defeat by two runs

Saturday, 15 February 2014

We were very disappointed to see Bangladesh losing its first twenty-twenty match against their more illustrated opponent Sri Lanka and the defeat margin was so narrow that it will take long time to forget the bitter defeat. After the heartbreaking defeat my neighborhood became totally silent which was buzzing even a few moments ago with thunderous cheers for the Tigers anticipating a thrilling win.
But at the end, it was a "so near yet so far" tragic story! Bangladesh lost the fateful match by just two runs. Bangladeshi openers Shamsur Rahman and Tamim Iqbal gave the hosts an excellent start, adding a fifty-plus opening stand. Getting 168 on a flat track was not that difficult once Bangladeshi openers started their innings with much ease and confident.  Bangladesh will play one more twenty-twenty match against Sri Lanka and then three one-day internationals. I hope the Tigers will come out from this shocking defeat and play their natural game for the rest of the matches against Sri Lanka. We must take forward the positive points of this first twenty-twenty match and move ahead.
