A suggestion to the traffic commissioner, DMP

Monday, 27 April 2009

Recently, a bridge has been constructed on Road # 11, joining Banani and Gulshan.
This is a very important alternate road as traffic on Kamal Ataturk Avenue was unbearable.
Recently it has been noticed that the pavement in the centre of Road # 11 at Banani is being taken off to put a median dividing the narrow road into two.
This move I am sure, will be detrimental to the smooth movement of traffic on Road # 11 of Banani.
As a resident of Road # 10A, I have physically noticed that only one car at a time can move from either direction. Hence, the long line of car will defeat the purpose of this very vital bridge.
This centre median can only be constructed at the approach of the bridge for about 200 feet to 300 feet where the road is wide enough to cater for two vehicles, matching with the two lanes on the bridge.
Unless the road is widened first, the median should not be built.
Our earnest request is to the Traffic Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP): please visit the site and make a judicious decision.
