FE Report | Sunday, 13 September 2020

President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Dr. Rubana Huq Saturday said a true leader is always simple and humble.
Speaking on leadership, the first ever female president of BGMEA said a leader always need not speak, but focus on goals.
"Sometimes silence is the most important thing a leader could do," she said while speaking at a virtual conference on 'Head and Heart of Leadership'.
Giving an example, she said when she decided to open garment factories amid the pandemic, she was harshly criticized. “But I kept silent and didn't reply to any criticism," she said adding that the decision of opening factories was good for all.
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) organised the virtual members' conference on a digital platform. Rubana Huq said Covid-19 is a great leveler for everyone.
Ayesha Jahan Bibha, Affiliate Professor of University of Denver, Australia presented the keynote paper on the leadership quality.
She said Covid-19 has changed so many things in the lives of people.
She said many revolutionary changes will happen like work without time zone and location in the future.
So a leader should be open to embrace ideas like this," she said.
Parveen Mahmud, Past President of ICAB, presided over the Members' Conference while IAB President Muhammad Farooq delivered address of welcome.
