AB Bank awarded MasterCard principal membership

AB Bank Ltd, the first private bank in the country, has been granted a Principal Member licence by MasterCard Worldwide for issuance of MasterCard credit card, Maestro debit and prepaid cards in Bangladesh along with licence to accept of all MasterCard cards of the world in its ATM and POS terminals.
"We are very pleased to be among the privileged financial institutions in the world to receive the Principal Member designation, not only because it will allow us to introduce payment solutions through cards and exploring new markets, but also for the recognition from a card industry leader such as MasterCard", said Kaiser A Chowdhury, president and managing director of AB Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikas Varma, vice president and head of business, South Asian Banks, MasterCard Worldwide, said : "We are pleased to collaborate with AB Bank, one of the leading banks in the country. Through the collaboration, AB Bank can now offer its customers a complete range of MasterCard products that are easy, convenient, and secure. M Wahidul Haque, chairman of AB Bank Ltd, Mugizhnan Sam bandhamoorthy, director of South Asia of MasterCard Worldwide, and other senior executives of the bank were present at the licence awarding ceremony, according to a press release.
