Abahani beat Mohammedan

In a battle of titans, Abahani Limited scrapped to a 1-0 goal victory over their traditional rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club in a key match of the Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
With the day's result, Abahani secured 10 points from four matches with an unbeaten record in the league while Mohammedan remained at five points playing four matches.
Star-studded Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club top the league table with full 12 points from four outings.
In the last three matches, Abahani beat Brothers Union 1-0, drew goalless with Feni Soccer Club and defeated Muktijoddha Sangsad 3-1 while Mohammedan SC drew goalless against both Muktijoddha SKC and Uttar Baridhara Club, and beat Team BJMC 2-0.
In the day's match, Ghanaian striker Osie Morrison scored the match-winner for the popular sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Ltd.
Osie Morrison fired the Mohammedan net with a cool right footer in the 17th minute as Mohammedan defender Mintu Sheikh failed to clear a casual cross by Abahani's right back Atikur Rahman Mishu (1-0).
In the 20th minute, Mohammedan forward Wahed Ahmed took a long range shot as Abahani custodian Shahidul Alam Sohel was not in position, but an alert Abahani defender Mohammad Sujon headed the ball to safety.
In the 36th minute, Touhidul Alam made a good header, utilizing a curved cross by Mishu from the right flank, but Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan saved his castle.

In the 87th minute, Abahani Limited got a penalty when Mohammedan defender Nahidul Islam brought down onrushing forward Osie Morrison on the left edge of the danger zone, but Abahani's Cameroonian midfielder Yoko Samnik failed to convert the spot kick.
Abahani forward Osie Morrison managed another golden opportunity in the 90th minute, but he failed to score despite an open net.
In the 2nd half, Abahani played cautiously and focused to keep their lead intact, rather than increasing the winning margin. Mohammedan SC started playing attacking football from the beginning of the second half, but failed to toke its fruit.
