Abahani beat MSC in DPL Cricket

Abahani Ltd began their Dhaka Premier League (DPL) campaign with a 5-wicket win over arch rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club in a match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur Wednesday, reports UNB.
In the day's match, replying to Mohammedan's 168 runs, Abahani reached the target scoring 169 runs for 5 wickets in 37.5 overs.
Abahani Ltd began their innings well with the opening stand of Liton Kumar Das and Abdul Majid contributing 48 runs in 13 overs, before Majid (12) was bowled by Rahatul Ferdous.
Liton Das scored team highest 55 runs off 65 balls with seven fours and a six, before he was run out by Naeem Islam at 82 for 2 in 20.4 overs.
Number four Rakibul Hasan pairing with Nasir Hossain contributed another 56 runs in 10.2 overs, in the 4th wicket stand, before Nasir (24) was caught by Ezaj Ahmed off Alauddin Babu, leaving team total at 158 for 4 in 33.4 overs.
Rakibul Hasan scored 41 runs off 44 balls with four fours while number three batsman PB Bandare Rajapakse (29) was the other double digit scorer.
Alauddin Babu grabbed two wickets for 26 runs while Naeem Islam and Rahatul Ferdous took one wicket each for 15 and 24 runs respectively.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, Mohammedan scored 168 runs for 9 in stipulated 50 overs.
Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza scored team highest 61 runs off 73 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Naeem Islam (45), Ariful Haque (16) and Rahatul Ferdous (not out 14) were the other double digit scorers for Mohammedan SC.
Mohammedan faced early jolt losing two top order batsmen Sayem Alam (2) and Ejaz Ahmed (0).
Shuvashish Roy claimed three wickets for 18 runs in 10 overs while Al-Amin took two wickets for 27 runs, also in 10 overs. Saqlain Sajib and Ziaur Rahman took one wicket each for 13 and 28 runs respectively.
In the day's other fixtures, Victoria Sporting Club beat Prime Bank Cricket Club by 66 runs at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah while Brothers Union won against Kalabagan Cricket Academy by 8 runs at BKSP ground-3 in Savar.
