Abahani down BKSP

Abahani Limited made a flying start in the eight-team Women's Club Cup Cricket Tournament beating BKSP by five wickets in the inaugural match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Saturday, reports UNB.
Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Lt Gen Sina Ibn Jamali inaugurated the 35 over-a-side eleven-day meet organised by the women's wing of BCB.
Sent in to bat first in the day's opener, national sports training institute team BKSP were all out for 129 in stipulated 35 overs with skipper Farhana Haque making 37, opener Sharmin Akhter 29, opener Rozina Akhter 23 and Nuzhat Tasina 13 runs.
Suborna claimed two wickets for 22 runs while Jahanara Alam, Champa Chakma and Sathira Zakir took one wicket each.
In reply, the popular Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited easily reached their target of 130 runs in 32.3 overs for the loss of five wickets with opener Papiya Haque scoring 38 runs, Suborna 17, Lata Mondal 15, Irene Sultana 13 and Sathira Zakir 10 runs.
Extras contributed team second highest 33 runs.
Sharifa Akther grabbed two wickets for 26 runs while Farzana Haque, Eka Mallick and Tripti Mondal took one wicket apiece.
Eight teams, split into two groups, are competing on league basis matches at three city venues-Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Gulshan Youth Club ground and City Club ground.
Later, two top teams from each of the group will play in the semifinals, both on May 4.
The final match will be held on May 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur after a day of recess on May 5.

Group A - Abahani Ltd, Dipali Jubo Sangha, BKSP and Khulna Women's Cricket Academy.
Group B - Mohammedan SC, Victoria Sc, Ansar & VDP and Indira Road KC.
