Abahani earn face-saving win over Pakistan WAPDA

Bangladesh champions Abahani limited earned a face-saving 1-0 goal victory over Pakistan WAPDA in their third and last group match of the AFC President's Cup Football at the MPPJ Stadium in Kuala Lumpur Thursday, reports UNB.
Zahid Hasan Emily scored the match-winner for Bangladesh's professional league (B League) champions Abahani Limited in the 70th minute.
With the day's maiden victory in their last group A match, the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani finished third in the four-team fray securing three points from three matches ahead of Pakistan WAPDA, which went down to the bottom place with one point after making a 1-1 draw with Nepal Police Club.
Earlier, Abahani Limited made exit from the competition after two consecutive defeats in the first two matches.
Abahani suffered a shocking 0-4 defeat against last time runners-up Nepal Police Club in the first match on Sunday and conceded 1-2 defeat against former champions Regar-Tadaz Club of Tajikistan in the 2nd match on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Pakistan WAPDA managed only one point from three group engagements after making one-all draw with Nepal Police Club in the 2nd match after conceding 1-2 defeat against Regar-Tadaz Club of Tajikistan, apart from the day's defeat.
Former champions Regar-Tadaz of Tajikistan (six points) is playing last time runners-up Nepal Police Club (four points) in the last group match Thursday to decide the group A champions.
